Partner J. Daniel Skees and associate Robert Goldfin co-authored an article for Renewable Energy World about new reliability standards for inverter-based resources (IBRs) that will be promulgated by the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) to address reliability disturbances caused when multiple IBRs go offline simultaneously.
The article provides a primer on IBRs, reviews the FERC order that directed NERC to issue the new standards, and discusses the implications of updated standards on renewable power generator owners and operators as well as registered entities that interact with renewable power generation for planning and operational purposes.
