FCC Covered List Is Pushing Limits of Supply Chain Scrutiny, Law360
October 06, 2026Partners Michael Huneke and Loyaan Egal co-authored a Law360 Expert Analysis article examining the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC’s) expanding use of its Covered List as a national security tool and the implications for companies beyond the traditional telecommunications sector.
The authors analyze how recent restrictions on foreign-produced connected equipment, including drones, consumer routers, advanced robotic devices, and power inverters, are increasing supply chain and compliance considerations for manufacturers, importers, and distributors. They recommend that companies map products and components against Covered List categories, assess suppliers beyond the first tier, maintain detailed sourcing and authorization records, and monitor further regulatory developments that could affect their ability to import, market, or sell connected products in the United States.
