Bakhytzhan Kadyrov
Kazakh and international companies turn to Bakhytzhan Kadyrov for advice on a range of corporate matters, including mergers, acquisitions, and tax. His client base spans industries and encompasses luxury hotel developers and mining and manufacturing companies. He has advised on a sale of a large confectionary company in Kazakhstan. Bakhytzhan has also provided counsel on complex Kazakh legal issues to a major Kazakhstan real estate developer.
The co-author of several publications about Kazakh tax and legal issues, Bakhytzhan speaks Russian and English. Before joining Morgan Lewis, he gained experience as an associate working in the corporate and tax practices of an international law firm, based in its Almaty, Kazakhstan, office. While there, he was seconded to the firm's London office for three months. Prior to that, Bakhytzhan worked at a Big Four tax firm.
- Represented Power International Holding W.L.L., a Qatari industrial conglomerate, in its $1.1 billion acquisition of Mobile Telecom-Service LLP, a mobile telecom company operating in Kazakhstan
- Represented shareholders of Rakhat JSC, a large Kazakhstan confectionary company, in connection with the sale of their majority stake to Lotte Confectionery Co, Ltd.
- Represented several international manufacturing giants, on complex privatization transactions
- Represented Compass Group PLC, a major international catering company, in connection with different projects, including joint ventures, acquisitions, labor and corporate law matters, and later in connection with the exit from Kazakhstan
- Represented Air Astana, Kazakhstan's national airline, in connection with issuance of legal opinions for a series of aircraft leases with Western lessors
- Represented several large Kazakhstan developers, in connection with opening of luxury hotels and branded apartments in Kazakhstan
- Represented a non-commercial organization, in a successful victory of seven court cases on a complex land matter, ending attempts to seizure the land plot and forcing the authorities to grant the construction permit
- Represented a major Chinese cement producer, in connection with a cross-border acquisition of a cement plant
- Represented several private groups, in connection with international tax structuring work
