NEW YORK, June 29, 2021: Vivien Yu, who advises clients on a wide range of immigration and mobility issues involving Greater China and the Asia Pacific region, is joining Morgan Lewis from Baker McKenzie as a partner later this summer.

Vivien assists multinational companies in establishing and maintaining customized immigration and mobility programs for their globally mobile workforces. She also develops immigration compliance programs for business travelers and advises on protocols for expatriate transitions in the case of major business changes, including mergers and acquisitions, consolidations, and reorganizations. Her experience crosses a number of sectors, in particular financial services. Vivien also represents startups and investors on special immigration categories.

“We understand how essential a global workforce is to a multinational corporation’s daily operations,” said Firm Chair Jami McKeon. “Vivien will assist our clients in navigating existing regulations in addition to the raft of new measures announced daily around the world and how they impact our clients operating throughout the Asia-Pacific region as their workforces become increasingly mobile again.”

“Vivien’s arrival adds further depth to our international immigration capabilities,” said Grace Speights, leader of Morgan Lewis’s global labor and employment practice. “Her wide-ranging background in developing and managing strategic immigration programs will be an asset to our clients and our team.”

Vivien reunites with global mobility colleagues who joined Morgan Lewis from Baker McKenzie in January 2019, including partner Shannon Donnelly, resident in Washington, DC, and of counsel Laura Garvin, resident in Miami. Vivien’s addition amplifies the Morgan Lewis team of partners, of counsel, associates and immigration specialists in Washington, DC, London, New York, Dallas, Miami, San Francisco, Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore, and Tokyo.

Morgan Lewis’s highly Chambers-ranked immigration and global mobility practice provides an integrated multijurisdictional team proficient in key immigration-related services, including taxation, compliance, due diligence, and employment laws worldwide. The team successfully addresses the sophisticated immigration issues that arise in major corporate transactions and reorganizations and is equally adept at managing day-to-day immigration programs for clients.
