SAN FRANCISCO, November 3, 2021: Morgan Lewis partner Molly Moriarty Lane has been named one of California’s 2021 Top Healthcare Lawyers by the Daily Journal. Molly is one of 25 lawyers recognized on this annual list that honors leading California lawyers who specialize in healthcare litigation, transactions, and counseling.
In an accompanying profile of Molly, the Daily Journal highlighted her recent work defending health insurance companies that have been accused of underpaying or refusing to pay benefits for behavioral health services. The publication also featured her representation of a large healthcare service plan in “winning a motion in an important case holding that the client is not subject to higher taxes as an insurance company,” and her defense of a dialysis company against a potential class action alleging it and other outpatient medical service providers “improperly agreed not to solicit one another’s employees.”
As deputy leader of the firm’s litigation practice and co-chair of the class action litigation practice, Molly defends clients in class action lawsuits in the healthcare, retail, technology, automotive, and financial sectors. She counsels clients—including health plans, health insurers, prescription benefit management companies, providers, and related entities—in consumer and unfair competition class actions, policy rescission actions, pharmaceutical litigation, claims for bad-faith denial of benefits, antitrust matters, and general commercial disputes, among other matters.
