A Morgan Lewis team representing Chase and its subsidiary Paymentech earned a shoutout from The AmLaw Litigation Daily for a win at the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in a case regarding a data breach that compromised credit card data at multiple businesses owned by Landry’s Inc. The appellate court upheld rulings forcing Landry’s to indemnify Chase for more than $20 million in assessments for failing to comply with security protocols from Visa and Mastercard and turning back Landry’s challenge to the lawfulness of the assessments themselves.
