Department of Energy Initiates Broad Review of Energy Sector Supply Chain, Energy Central

In Energy Central, partner Daniel Skees and associate Arjun Ramadevanahalli write that the US Department of Energy’s notice of Request for Information seeking public input on energy supply-chain issues and related technologies will be significant to the nation’s efforts at meeting emissions goals—including the licensing and deployment of advanced nuclear reactors. As cited in the article, blog posts by partners Alex Polonsky and Jane Accomando and associate Roland Backhaus explain that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is working to develop the proposed Part 53 to Title 10 of the US Code of Federal Regulations, which would provide guidance for licensing advanced reactors. The NRC also recently released a draft White Paper discussing options for streamlining its regulatory licensing progress for microreactors, according to Skees and Ramadevanahalli.
