Emily Renshaw focuses her practice on complex business and securities litigation matters. She represents a diverse client base in an array of matters including shareholder and consumer class actions; derivative actions; white collar criminal matters; governmental, regulatory, and internal investigations; and all forms of contractual disputes and business torts. She represents clients before state and federal courts at the trial and appellate levels and in regulatory proceedings before federal and state securities agencies.
Active in pro bono work, Emily represents individuals and nonprofit organizations in litigation matters involving contract disputes, constitutional issues, and issues of international and family law.
While in law school, Emily served as a judicial extern for the Hon. Nancy Gertner of the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
Represents corporations and individuals in connection with civil and criminal government investigations, including investigations by the SEC, DOJ, FINRA, and the Massachusetts Securities Division
Assisted in obtaining order denying in its entirety defendant Gartner, Inc’s motion to strike claims for violation of the Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices Act and for corporate defamation based on NetScout’s allegations that Gartner has a “pay-to-play” business model and that Gartner published false and defamatory statements
Assisted in obtaining order from the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals affirming grant of motion to dismiss all claims asserted against Tempur-Sealy International in securities fraud class action
Assisted in obtaining grant of motion to dismiss, with prejudice, all claims asserted against Freddie Mac in multibillion-dollar federal securities fraud class action pending in US District Court of the Northern District of Ohio
Assisted in obtaining summary judgment for the New England Patriots in a multimillion dollar contract dispute by an international brewing company
Assisted in obtaining order from Second Circuit Court of Appeals affirming the grant of motion to dismiss all claims asserted against Freddie Mac in multibillion-dollar federal securities fraud class action
Assisted in obtaining grant of motion to dismiss, with prejudice, all claims asserted against Tempur Sealy and its officers and directors in a federal securities fraud class action
Assisted in obtaining summary judgment for BJ’s Wholesale Club in connection with claims brought on behalf of a putative class of consumers
Obtained judgment on the pleadings in favor of EphBlog in a federal defamation suit
Representing Genzyme Corporation in federal litigation arising from international distribution of regulated medical devices
Representing the New England Patriots in a contract dispute with a spirits company regarding negotiations over a multi-year, multimillion dollar sponsorship
