Jacob Grotenrath focuses his practice on intellectual property (IP) disputes involving utility and design patents, trademarks, unfair competition, false advertising, and trade secrets. Jake uses his engineering background to advise clients in a variety of technology areas, ranging from consumer products to transportation equipment. Jake assists clients in US district courts and contributes to post-grant proceedings before the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Before joining Morgan Lewis, Jake worked at multiple IP boutique law firms. Jake also studied at the University of Houston Law Center, where he was a senior articles editor for the Houston Journal of Health Law & Policy, a research assistant for Professor Jessica Roberts, and treasurer for the Intellectual Property Organization.
Prior to attending law school, Jake received his B.S. in mechanical engineering at Kettering University while working as a current product engineering co-op at Eaton in their heavy-duty transmission department.
