James R. Preston is part of a team that focuses on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, spinoffs, financing, and strategic alliances. Other areas of work involve restructuring, tax, and securities, including public and private equity and debt offerings. He advises clients ranging from emerging and high-growth businesses to Fortune 500 companies.
While in law school, Jay was a student attorney in the Start-Up Ventures and Community Enterprises Clinic, where he assisted local startup companies and non-profit organizations. He was also a content editor for the Duke Law & Technology Review, and served as treasurer for the Law & Entrepreneurship Society.
