John D. Cleaver counsels investment banks, private investment funds, and global institutional investors on their investments in domestic and international private investment funds, including hedge funds, venture capital funds, secondary funds, and other private investment funds. In addition, John represents buyers and sellers of private fund interests in the secondary market. Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, he was an associate in the corporate department of a regional law firm.
While attending Brooklyn Law School, he was vice president of the Moot Court Honor Society, Appellate Division and received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Appellate Advocacy. John previously served as a legal intern for Judge Eric N. Vitaliano of the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York, and also interned at the Department of Justice, US District Court for the Eastern District of New York, Civil Division. Before attending law school, Mr. Cleaver worked at international schools in Japan and Costa Rica.
