Joseph R. Lewis

Associate

Joseph Lewis is a labor and employment litigator with nearly a decade of experience defending employers in complex disputes. He advises and represents companies in wage and hour matters, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful discharge claims, from single-plaintiff actions to class and collective litigation. Joseph also counsels employers on workforce-related issues and employment compliance, helping clients navigate high-stakes disputes efficiently and strategically.

Joseph regularly handles investigations before the US Department of Justice’s Immigrant and Employee Rights Section, guiding clients through audits, subpoenas, and negotiated resolutions.

In addition to employment litigation, Joseph counsels employers on traditional labor matters, including union campaigns, collective bargaining, and labor arbitrations. He also represents employers in trade secret and employee mobility disputes, including fast-moving injunction proceedings.

Joe sits on the Hiring Committee in the San Francisco office and served as former chair of the firm’s Local Committee on Associates.

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Joe managed implementations of a cloud-based property management software for hundreds of clients. While in law school, he founded the University of San Francisco Real Estate Law Society and served as an editor for the University of San Francisco Law Review.
