Marshall C. Stoddard Jr. represents banks and other financial institutions in a variety of debt transactions in the United States and globally, including syndicated, club, and bilateral transactions. These transactions span across a large variety of economic sectors including technology, entertainment, government contracting, media, transportation, agriculture, manufacturing, distribution, logistics, and others.

In the finance arena, Marshall counsels on senior debt, corporate, acquisition financing, mezzanine financing, and syndications involving recapitalizations, refinancing, and commercial, asset-based, and cash-flow lending. In the restructurings and reorganizations areas, he represents senior creditors and syndicate groups, bond holders, and secured creditors in and out of bankruptcy. He also advises on exit financing, contested bankruptcy matters, plan formulation, strategic divestitures, recapitalizations, and other financial and legal restructures.

Working out of the firm’s New York and Los Angeles offices, he also handles international matters. He closes many US-UK cross-border deals involving acquisitions and collateral perfection and priority issues, as well as transactions with a nexus to many European and Asian countries, Australia, and the Americas.

Marshall is recognized by Chambers USA where clients state that "his command of the law is fantastic, and he can fluidly bridge the gap between legal and business principles." He has also been recognized by The Legal 500 for his service to clients in the secured lending industry. Marshall was named a Banking and Finance Visionary by the Los Angeles Times in their inaugural issue of Banking and Finance: Trends, Updates and Visionaries, and he is a Hall of Fame inductee and winner of a Lifetime Achievement Award by The Secured Finance Network.

An author and speaker, Marshall writes and publishes articles and frequently delivers presentations to business and legal organizations. He has written two treatises, Lender Liability and Advanced Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Practice.

Before joining Morgan Lewis, Marshall was a partner in an international law firm, where he chaired its banking and institutional finance practice in the United States.
