Paul Augustus Riley, Jr.
Paul Augustus Riley, Jr. focuses his practice on litigation, with an emphasis on commercial disputes and complex business matters. He represents clients in state and federal courts in cases involving breach of contract and other business conflicts. Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Paul clerked for Judge John Milton Younge of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and practiced at a leading international law firm in Washington, DC, where he gained experience in and exposure to high-stakes litigation and dispute resolution.
Paul earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he was a James Kent Scholar (awarded for outstanding academic achievement), president of the Student Senate, and a Richard Paul Richman Leadership Fellow. He received the Carol B. Liebman Mediation Prize and distinguished himself in advocacy competitions, including as a semi-finalist in the Harlan Fiske Stone Moot Court Competition and as the first-place winner of the CLS CJAN Mock Trial Competition. His student note on voting rights, “'Unpacking' the Problem: The Need to Broaden the Scope of Vote Dilution Claims under Section 2 of the VRA," was published in the Columbia Journal of Law and Social Problems.
Paul graduated from Princeton University with an A.B. in politics, where he received the Spirit of Princeton Award. Before law school, he worked at Dropbox, Inc. in San Francisco as a legal analyst and later senior legal analyst, advising internal clients on commercial agreements with Fortune 500 companies and startups.
