Polina Sizikova
Polina Sizikova is a dispute resolution lawyer advising clients on complex, cross-border litigation before English and Russian courts, including bankruptcy proceedings and enforcement actions. She also advises on international commercial arbitration across a broad spectrum of institutional rules. Additionally, Polina regularly supports clients with internal investigations involving potential breaches of corporate policies and anti-corruption regulations. Her work spans several key sectors, including aviation, financial services, energy, and pharmaceuticals. She is qualified to practice in the Russian Federation only.
Polina has extensive experience representing clients under the rules of leading arbitral institutions, including the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC), the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), and the Vienna International Arbitral Centre (VIAC). She has also advised clients in proceedings under the The Grain and Feed Trade Association (GAFTA) and London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA) Rules.
- Won a major claim for Merx Aviation against insurers, valued at $184 million, regarding aircraft trapped in Russia as a result of the conflict in Ukraine
- Representing various clients in litigation before the Commercial Court in London against the various international reinsurers and insurers who participated in the insurance and reinsurance of interests in aircraft leased to the Russian airlines, with the matters we are currently representing valued to be in excess of $4 billion total (one of The Lawyer’s Top 20 Cases of 2024)
- Representing a United Arab Emirates-based oil trader in a $100 million commercial arbitration under DIAC rules
- Advising an international commodity trader in a $100 million SIAC arbitration, as well as in related enforcement actions and criminal proceedings across Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia
- Representing an investor in commercial litigation before the Commercial Court in London against an international financial institution concerning the unauthorised sale of securities linked to sanctions imposed on Russia
- Representing MTS, the largest telecommunications company and mobile network operator in Russia, in commercial litigation before the Commercial Court in London against an American software company
- Representing a Dubai oil trader in $30 million HKIAC arbitration against Omani buyer under supply and hedging agreements
- Advising a publicly traded pharmaceutical company in an internal investigation concerning allegations of unfair competition, discrimination, and workplace harassment
- Advising international tech companies on their exit from the Russian market, including related litigation, arbitration proceedings, and settlements with major counterparties
- Acting for a Luxembourg-based commodities trader in over ten proceedings before Russian courts, alongside a related LCIA arbitration
- Represented a leading copper producer in the arbitration proceedings under the Rules of the Vienna International Arbitration Center and subsequent enforcement of the arbitration award
- Represented a major international trader in connection with restructuring and enforcement of a $184 million prepayment originally provided by Vitol S.A. to Antipinsky Refinery
- Represented a syndicate of international banks with a $70 million claim in connection with two bankruptcy proceedings in Russia relating to entities of the Russian metallurgical group Red October
- Represented a subsidiary of the Russian state bank in the LCIA arbitration related to non-performance under the facility agreement and related collateral
