Shannon L.C. Ammon
Shannon L.C. Ammon is an experienced litigator who represents employers in complex and sensitive disputes. Shannon’s extensive litigation experience includes noncompete and trade secrets litigation, the first federal jury trial of a whistleblower claim under the Food Safety Modernization Act, and arbitration hearings before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. She frequently appears before federal and state courts and arbitral forums to address discrimination, retaliation, whistleblower, and defamation claims. Shannon’s experience also encompasses appeals, having represented clients before the US Courts of Appeals for the Second, Third, and Fourth Circuits.
Shannon also counsels clients on employment-related matters in planning and implementing workforce transformation, including the restructuring and redeployment of their US domestic and international workforces in connection with reductions in force, voluntary separation programs, outsourcing transactions, facility shutdowns and relocations, mergers, sales, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
Shannon often handles employment disputes with high-level executives and other confidential matters involving high-profile individuals. As part of her diverse practice, Shannon represents clients across a broad cross-section of industries, including aviation, education, financial services, healthcare, insurance, manufacturing, logistics, pharmaceuticals, and nonprofit. She has also served as counsel to international law firms, representing them in their most pressing employment disputes.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Shannon clerked for Judge Dolores K. Sloviter of the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and Judge Ivan D. Davis of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
Shannon has a strong commitment to pro bono work and previously served as vice chair of the Philadelphia and Wilmington offices’ pro bono committee. She represents youth in family court and has also represented nonprofit organizations in filing amicus briefs before the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and US Supreme Court. In 2018, Shannon was awarded the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania’s Pro Bono Publico Award for the Court of Common Pleas – Family Division, Juvenile. The award recognizes the importance of lawyers from around the city who provide pro bono legal services and the role those services play in ensuring access and justice for the citizens of Philadelphia.
