Sophia C. Aguilar focuses her practice on commercial litigation and disputes and securities litigation in both federal and state courts. Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Sophia clerked for Judge Peter G. Sheridan and Judge Robert Kirsch of the US District Court for the District of New Jersey. Prior to her clerkships, Sophia started her career at another international law firm in New York City, where she focused her practice on securities litigation and shareholder activism and defense. Sophia is fluent in Spanish, and she maintains an active pro bono practice focused on immigration proceedings.
While in law school, Sophia externed for Chancellor Kathaleen St. J. McCormick of the Delaware Court of Chancery. Sophia also successfully represented a client and her child in winning asylum.
Also while in law school, Sophia served as president of the Notre Dame Willem C. International Commercial Arbitration Vis Moot Team and executive articles editor for the Journal of Legislation.
