Vanessa M. Brown counsels clients on an extensive range of civil litigation issues with a focus on securities-related litigation, arbitration, and investigations, as well as complex commercial litigation and media law. Her clients include financial institutions, public and private companies, broker-dealers, and investment advisors. Vanessa has practiced in both state and federal trial and appellate courts and has been involved in numerous administrative enforcement proceedings before the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, and state securities regulators.
In addition, Vanessa maintains an active pro bono practice, focusing on criminal and juvenile justice, as well as representing individuals in immigration and asylum matters, and authoring Amicus briefs on behalf of various nonprofit organizations.
Vanessa served as a law clerk to Judge O. Rogeriee Thompson on the US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and was a member of the University of Chicago’s Legal Forum.
