Xuedong (Zander) Zhu, Ph.D. focuses his practice on patent preparation, prosecution, and counseling, freedom-to-operate investigations, and intellectual property (IP) due diligence. He counsels clients in the life sciences, biotechnology, and medical devices fields, encompassing a wide array of technologies, including antibodies, cell therapies, diagnostics, drug delivery, implants, biomedical instruments, neuromodulation, nucleic acid therapeutics, and stem cell technologies.

Zander received both his Ph.D. in biomedical engineering and his J.D. from Boston University, where he graduated as an Edward F. Hennessey Distinguished Scholar and received the Dean’s Award. His doctoral research examined mechanisms of infrared optical neuromodulation, particularly the basis of axonal and synaptic modulation using pulsed infrared light.

Zander was a 1L IP-Life Sciences Fellow at Morgan Lewis in 2023, a summer associate in 2024, and worked as a law clerk in the firm’s IP group during his third year in law school.
