Kathleen A. Keyser
Kathy Keyser counsels clients through complex real estate transactions, including development transactions, P3 transactions, multijurisdictional portfolio transactions, complex energy transactions, and real estate joint ventures. She handles sophisticated corporate real estate transactions on a national scale, working with Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), developers, public and private companies, energy companies, and banks. She also negotiates leases and dispositions for clients in the life sciences industry. Kathy represents the nation’s largest developer, owner, and manager of high-quality student housing in transactions throughout the United States.
Kathy represents REIT clients in all stages of managing their real estate portfolios, guiding P3 projects from pre-development to opening and trouble-shooting issues at all stages. In her facilitation of energy projects, including coal-fired, hydroelectric, natural gas, and solar projects across the United States, Kathy provides diligence and transactional support at all stages, including acquisition, development, sale, operation, and financing.
- Representation of an affiliate of American Campus Communities in the negotiation of development and construction agreements for a 740-bed student housing facility
- Representation of registered, non-exchange traded REIT in connection with the leasing of assets located in Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and the District of Columbia
- Representation of a publicly-traded REIT in its acquisition of 20 Class-A self-storage facilities in New York, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania for $431 million
- Represented a consumer-focused nutrition company in a 120,000 square foot headquarters lease
- Representation of a publicly traded REIT in a deal valued at $3.3 billion, which included the acquisition of 29.2 million square feet of space in 38 states and the District of Columbia
- Representation of an energy company in its negotiation with the Army Corps of Engineers in connection with real estate issues, permitting, and reclamation
- Representation of a hydroelectric power provider in its acquisition of a 2,300-acre site in Pennsylvania, including diligence and analysis relating to issues surrounding the site’s sewage treatment plant, 21 residential leases, and a complex ownership structure
- Representation of one of the nation’s largest banking institutions in a variety of matters relating to its real estate owned (REO) assets, including negotiation and development of form documents and advice in connection with disposition of assets and related issues
