Morgan Lewis Partner Gordon Cooney to Receive Complex Litigation Ethics Award
13. August 2026PHILADELPHIA, August 13, 2026: The Complex Litigation Ethics Conference has named partner J. Gordon Cooney as its 2026 Defense Attorney honoree for the Complex Litigation Ethics Award, which recognizes legal professionals who have made extraordinary contributions to the effective functioning of complex litigation over the course of their careers while acting with extraordinary integrity.
Each year, the Conference presents awards in four categories: judge, plaintiffs’ attorney, defense attorney, and scholar, litigant, or other participant in or commentator on complex litigation. Award recipients are recognized for demonstrating excellence in promoting ethics in class actions and other complex litigation.
Over his more than 40-year career, Gordon has defended companies and their officers and directors in some of their most significant legal and business challenges. He is a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers, is one of the nation’s leading class action defense lawyers, has appeared in the courts of more than 35 states, and has argued before the US Supreme Court and many federal circuit courts.
The awards will be presented at the fifth annual Complex Litigation Ethics Conference at UC Law SF on October 16, 2026.
