Environmental litigation partner, Geri Edens, will speak on the panel “In the Permitting Trenches: Stories and Lessons Learned from the First Competitive Projects”  at the American Wind Energy Association’s Offshore WINDPOWER Conference and Exhibition 2019 on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at 2:15 pm.

This panel represents an opportunity for developers and federal agencies to share lessons learned during the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management’s first construction and operating plan (COP) reviews.

Topics will include:

  • Content of the COP, including project design envelopes, departures from regulatory requirements, and data confidentiality.
  • Best practices for coordination with other federal agencies through One Federal Decision and FAST-41.
  • Outreach to stakeholders and management of litigation risk.
  • The nexus between federal permitting strategy and project finance & offtake.
  •  Unique offshore permitting challenges, including fisheries and environmental mitigation measures.
