ACAMS: AFC Trends & Typologies

Partner Mike Huneke will be speaking at the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (ACAMS) on the panel titled AFC Trends & Typologies - Export Controls Ep.3: Evasion Case Studies. ACAMS offers certification and training programs, hosts conferences, and shares resources focused on identifying and preventing money laundering activities.

Mike and his fellow panelists will discuss current efforts to combat the circumvention of strategic trade and export control regulations, particularly in light of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. The discussion will highlight the US government’s Disruptive Technology Strike Force, established in 2022, which has pursued more than 30 cases involving attempts to evade export restrictions benefiting Russia, Iran, and China. The panel will analyze three significant enforcement actions to assess what occurred, identify key compliance breakdowns, and explore measures that could have more effectively detected or prevented such violations.
