| Wednesday, February 11, 2026 - Friday, February 13, 2026 |
We are proud to announce that Michele Buenafe will be presenting during the American Health Law Institute’s Winter Institute. This year’s institute, Advising Providers and AI in Health Care, drills down on how AI can—and importantly, cannot—be used to help healthcare providers improve operations and patient outcomes.
Michele’s panel, From Innovation to Implementation: Managing FDA Compliance in Hospital Adoption of AI combined The AI Landscape: Balancing Compliance and Innovation in Health Care, will cover AI’s expanding role across clinical care, diagnostics, and hospital operations. The presentation will look at the current regulatory landscape around AI, covering the state, federal, and global outlook.
Topics will include:
- Regulatory risks to consider, including liability exposure, informed consent, billing fraud, algorithmic bias, and cybersecurity vulnerabilities
- Long-term considerations, such as AI ethics boards, contracting strategies, and monitoring programs
- Clarification on what medical devices are covered under current legislation
- Advice on how to stay compliant under Office of Inspector General (OIG), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) scrutiny
