The UK Equality Act taking effect this October harmonizes previously disparate discrimination legislation and classifies "protected characteristics" such as age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation. There will be immediate ramifications for employers that will require careful review of existing policies, procedures, and training programs.
The presenters will highlight the key provisions of the Act for UK employers as well as important next steps as the legislation takes effect.
