Hedge Fund Advisors To The World

Monday, April 20, 2015

With more than 120 lawyers, Morgan Lewis has one of the industry's largest international fund practices. Our lawyers serve hundreds of global hedge fund managers, broker dealers and other asset managers, including more than 50% of the world’s 50 largest hedge funds, six of the world's 10 largest hedge fund managers (based on assets under management), and more than 50 institutional investors.

Partners Jedd Wider (New York) and Tim Levin (Philadelphia) spoke to us as they were preparing to chair the firm’s Eighth Annual Advanced Topics in Hedge Fund Practices Conference: Manager and Investor Perspectives at New York’s Plaza Hotel:

What is currently keeping hedge fund managers up at night? What do you predict will be the next hot topic? Regulation and compliance, as well as their cousin, enforcement, have been forefront for years now and continue to remain critical. This is especially true as new products are structured and evolve, and the traditional lines between registered and unregistered products continue to be challenged. Cyber-security issues are also keeping most managers up at night and remain constant challenges not only from a security perspective but also from an investor relations perspective.

How has the firm’s annual conference distinguished itself from other industry offerings? It's one of the largest educational conferences offered by a law firm in the hedge fund industry, attracting hundreds of senior hedge fund managers and operational and legal officers. We offer a full day event focused on advanced current topics, not the basics. This year, we feature 37 Morgan Lewis speakers who are recognized authorities in their fields.

What are the hallmarks of Morgan Lewis’s hedge fund practice? We have one of the deepest global hedge fund practices representing many of the world's largest hedge funds and most active institutional investors. We offer truly comprehensive services, and incredible global market perspective, advising our clients in connection with fund formation, regulatory, securities, derivatives, product development and structuring, labor and employment, intellectual property, M&A, and other related hedge fund matters.
