Morgan Lewis Wins MCCA’s Thomas L. Sager Award for Championing Diversity

Thursday, October 4, 2018

NEW YORK, October 4, 2018: The Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA) has recognized Morgan Lewis as a winner of its Thomas L. Sager Award, which the organization bestows each year to a law firm that champions diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout its ranks and is committed to hiring, retaining, and promoting diverse lawyers.

The MCCA announced the award at its Diversity Gala in New York on October 3. Morgan Lewis was among three large global law firm finalists. The organization highlighted Morgan Lewis’s work to break down the barriers to entry in the legal field and specifically cited the Morgan Lewis Foundation Diversity Scholarship Program. Under that program, Morgan Lewis partners with select law schools to provide financial assistance to second- and third-year law students from underrepresented groups who have demonstrated academic excellence and financial need to attain a law degree.

“We are grateful to the MCCA for its dedication to advancing the imperative of diversity in the legal profession and I am delighted that the organization has honored Morgan Lewis with this prestigious award,” said Firm Chair Jami McKeon. “At our firm, promoting diversity and inclusion is a core value that is integral to how we do business and how we support the next generation of leaders in the law.”

This is the second recognition Morgan Lewis has received this year from the MCCA, which is one of the preeminent voices on diversity issues in the legal profession. In March, the organization named partner Anne Marie Estevez among its 2018 Rainmakers.
