Partner John Lavelle was quoted in a Law360 article about Morgan Lewis’s victory in a pro bono case on behalf of the lowest-income Pennsylvania households seeking retroactive emergency food benefits (SNAP) denied to them by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) regardless of aid granted by the Families First Coronavirus Response Act amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Ultimately we were successful in persuading the Eastern District of Pennsylvania court that, contrary to the California court's ruling, the USDA's interpretation was unlawful because it was contrary to the statute's unambiguous meaning, congressional intent and the overall SNAP statutory scheme," John said.
The win on behalf of the state’s residents was also covered by Politico Pro, The Am Law Litigation Daily, Al Dia, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and WESA FM.
