Partner Ezra Church was featured in a Legaltech News article about the reaction from data privacy lawyers to an executive order signed by President Joseph Biden to implement a new EU-US Data Privacy Framework. The framework will replace a data partnership set in the now defunct Privacy Shield agreement. Ezra told the publication he is advising clients to maintain their Privacy Shield certification.
“A lot of them kind of wonder why am I doing this? Why do I have this on the website? Why are we paying the fees every year when we really take advantage of this mechanism?” Ezra said.
“And my response has been that we’re hopeful this is going to happen in the next six months or so. And once it does, you’ll be in a good position to take advantage and hopefully very quickly, because you maintain your certification.”
