NEW YORK and HOUSTON, October 25, 2022: Morgan Lewis partners Thomas Mellor, John Crespo, and Humberto Padilla Gonzalez have been selected for inclusion in the 2022 edition of The Legal 500 Private Practice Powerlist: US-Mexico. The list recognizes leading US-based lawyers for their outstanding work on Mexico-facing matters based on feedback from in-house counsel in the United States and Mexico, and research from The Legal 500’s US and Latin America teams.
As co-chair the firm’s Latin America practice, Tom has experience representing lenders in a variety of finance transactions in Latin America, from unsecured bilateral lending transactions to more complex secured acquisition financings, securitizations, project financings, and capital markets transactions. Additionally, he has advised on certain alternative asset classes, including litigation funding and venture debt.
John, who also co-chairs the firm’s Latin America practice, has experience focused on Latin America–based transactions, including the formation and structuring of joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, privatizations, development of infrastructure projects, and general corporate and contract matters. He has also advised clients comprising public and privately held corporations, private equity funds, sovereign wealth funds, and financial institutions.
Humberto represents clients in a wide range of cross-border matters, including mergers and acquisitions, investments, joint ventures, international commercial finance transactions, and contractual and simple operational matters throughout Latin America. He also assists clients with respect to internal compliance investigations under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, data privacy issues, and labor, employment, benefits, and immigration issues in Latin America.
