A Swiss-based global technology company has agreed to pay more than $315 million and comply with a three-year deferred prosecution agreement to resolve investigations into violations of the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act related to the bribery of a high-ranking official at South Africa’s state-owned energy company.
“What is significant here is the new entrant of South African authorities, who are not just enforcing their anti-corruption laws but have charged an individual in connection with this matter,” Amy said.
