BOSTON, July 17, 2023: Morgan Lewis continues to boost its global tax practice with the arrival of Matthew Schnall from WilmerHale. With a broad-based tax practice and experience advising on complex business-related tax matters as well as federal and state tax controversies, Matt joins Morgan Lewis as a partner resident in Boston.
“Matt’s unique skillset brings depth to our global transactional tax and tax structuring capabilities, as well as our tax controversy and litigation services, as he represents clients in a wide range of federal, state, and local tax matters,” said Firm Chair Jami McKeon. “His experience enhances the already robust services our clients rely on for complicated tax matters.”
Matt advises public and privately held companies on a broad range of transactional matters, including taxable and tax-free combinations, divisions, asset acquisitions, investments and divestitures, equity and debt financings, capital structuring and restructuring, collaborations, and joint ventures. He also supports investment funds and their managers on tax issues arising throughout the lifecycles of both funds and management companies and provides tax counsel to real estate investors and developers. In addition his experience in federal tax, Matt brings an extensive state and local tax background to Morgan Lewis. Matt has been recognized by Chambers USA as a leading tax lawyer in Massachusetts since 2004, and is an adjunct professor in the Graduate Tax Program at the Boston University School of Law.
