In a roundup of industry commentary on the biggest developments to impact ediscovery in the last year, partner Scott Milner told Legaltech News that “one of the pivotal legal trends that emerged, or should I say re-emerged, in 2023 was companies’ commitment to and investments in information governance (IG), particularly in data identification and remediation,” noting that the trend is “driven by escalating concerns over privacy and increased cyber incidents.”
Scott added, “Further, the use of, and challenges with, emerging technologies underscored the critical need for revamping existing IG policies and programs to address evolving data types. 2023 marked a significant shift in the legal landscape, reflecting a proactive response to the heightened complexities of data management in an era defined by rapid technological evolution and growing regulatory scrutiny.”
