The New York Law Journal profiled the arrival of private investment funds partner Leonora Shalet to Morgan Lewis, who shared that she’s come across the firm “over the last few years in negotiations” and noted it has “broad and deep capabilities across the spectrum.”
In hiring Leonora, investment management practice group leader Tim Levin seeks to deploy her “versatility” to meet the desire of private funds clients to diversify their products. Hedge fund managers want to step into alternative credit. Private credit managers are turning to other types of closed-end funds, according to Tim.
“We have an objective of wanting to grow this practice, but we have the ability to be opportunistic about that,” Tim said. “We have invested in lateral talent to bring in people like Leonora with a demonstrated history of working with clients.”
