Trump Nominates Three to Fill Commissioner Vacancies at USITC, MLex

MLex quoted partner Matt Rizzolo in an article examining the recent nominations of three candidates to fill long-vacant commissioner positions at the US International Trade Commission (USITC) and what the appointments may signal about the administration’s priorities. Matt discussed the significance of the appointments and their backgrounds.

“Although trade-related experience is a typical path for commissioner nominees, multiple here have deep backgrounds in intellectual property and patent matters—which is particularly significant given that patent-based Section 337 investigations make up the vast majority of the ITC’s docket,” Matt said.

“The opportunity to appoint five of the six commissioners at the ITC is rare and extraordinary, particularly for an administration that has made trade policy a central priority,” he added.
