Option Droit & Affaires spoke with partner Gilles Saint Marc for an article examining the implementation of the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD 2) in France and its implications for corporate financing and private debt funds.

The article explores how AIFMD 2 expands direct lending opportunities for alternative investment funds, even as France moves more slowly than other European jurisdictions to transpose the directive. Gilles explained that the reforms could significantly broaden financing options for companies across the European Union (EU), while complementing traditional bank lending.

Gilles noted, “An eight-lane highway is opening up for AIFs across the entire EU to provide credit to companies, complementing the role of banks.”
