Partners Hubert de Vauplane and Arnaud Grünthaler spoke to L’Agefi for an article examining the Paris Financial Center’s latest proposals for establishing a legal framework for decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) under French law.

As chair of the working group, Hubert stated, “There is no 100% effective solution. Either there is a problem with governance and decentralization, or with pseudonymity, or with the concept of the public interest. And the same observation is made abroad: no country manages to check all the boxes.”

Arnaud stated, “This would be a new type of foundation, achieved by modifying certain rules, notably the rule regarding the public interest, which may be lacking. However, even this framework does not fully meet the objectives and criteria of a DAO, namely decentralization and autonomy.”
