White-Collar Rewired Part 1: “We’re Not in Kansas Anymore,” Global Investigations Review

Partner Sandra Moser spoke with Global Investigations Review about the changing federal enforcement landscape as the Trump administration restructures agencies and shifts resources and priorities across white-collar enforcement.

“It is often said that ‘the more things change, the more they stay the same.’ It might be time to retire that phrase when it comes to enforcement and regulation in Washington, DC, or at least put it on the shelf,” Sandra said.

Pointing to changes at the US Department of Justice (DOJ), US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and in beneficial ownership reporting requirements, Sandra added, “with no less than three separate and robust divisions of the DOJ whose primary mission is to tackle fraud and false claims; an SEC where the FCPA Unit has been disbanded and crypto is being embraced; and waving goodbye to beneficial ownership reporting requirement, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore.”
