Partners Matthew Joseph, Steve Levitan, Philip Russell, and Charles Sweet authored a chapter in Chambers Global Practice Guides: Securitisation 2023 discussing key trends and developments within US securitisation regulation.
The article notes that the 2020 election resulted in several new rule proposals and changes by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and other regulators. But these changes do not appear to be focused primarily on asset-backed securities (ABS) or the securitisation markets and present unforeseen and challenging consequences.
“The calendar year 2023 also should see a continued focus on the transition from the use of the London Interbank Offered Rate (LIBOR) to the Secured Overnight Financing Rate (SOFR),” they write.
