Mark Geday
Mark Geday has more than 20 years of experience employing a range of innovative and market-defining transactions, including complex private and public matters involving parties with differing needs and goals, for clients spanning all areas of the private equity and asset management sector. Mark advises on myriad aspects of company law including mergers and acquisitions, disposals, restructurings, joint ventures, fundraisings and strategic stakes. He is a member of the firm’s SPAC Task Force and advises companies and sponsors contemplating SPAC and de-SPACing transactions.
Mark leverages his experience across the asset management sector to provide key insight to his clients, advising on solutions that allow them to maintain and achieve their key objectives. In the 2024 edition of The Legal 500 UK, Mark was described by clients as an “exceptional” lawyer who “we love working with . . . very much.” They also noted that he “is proactive and straightforward” and” knows his clients well.”
Mark has been a member of the Law Society Company Law Committee, and chaired its subcommittee on private equity funds.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mark was the head of the London office private equity practice of another global law firm. In addition, he previously acted as the director of legal services and company secretary for an FTSE 100 company.

- Represented Crestview Capital Partners, J Rothschild Group, and the Royal Bank of Scotland on the sale of 100% of Martin Currie to Legg Mason
- Represented Cazenove Capital on its £424 million ($552 million) recommended takeover by Schroders
- Represented The Blackstone Group and PAI Partners on the agreed acquisition of United Biscuits for more than £1.6 billion ($2 billion)
- Represented Winter Capital on the spin-out of its private equity business and the launch of its first fund
- Represented Cabot Square Capital funds on a range of fund raisings, investments and disposals including investments in financial services, infrastructure, and real estate businesses
- Represented Carlyle in relation to investments in the energy sector
- Represented Silk Road Fund on its investment in Yamal LNG
- Represented Wittington Investments on a range of investments in consumer and retail businesses
- Represented Invista Real Estate and Invista European Real Estate on a range of public and private transactions and restructurings
