NEW YORK, February 11, 2021: Firm Chair Jami McKeon has been named a recipient of the New York Lawyers for the Public Interest’s (NYLPI) 2021 Law & Society Award. The annual award honors influential individuals in the New York legal and corporate communities.

“I want to thank NYLPI for this honor and their tireless commitment to protect civil rights and equality for all New Yorkers,” Ms. McKeon said. “We are proud of our longstanding commitment to pro bono service and to partner with NYLPI in order to provide critical support to New York communities in need.”

Morgan Lewis has collaborated with NYLPI to advise nonprofits and small businesses on corporate governance, employment, and other business legal needs, including an annual nonprofit governance workshop and more recently, trainings on COVID-19–related employment issues for nonprofits. Morgan Lewis associate Nnenne Okorafor is currently serving as a virtual Pro Bono Clearinghouse fellow for a full-time, six-month secondment. Over the years, lawyers at the firm have also served as members of NYLPI’s board of directors.

Ms. McKeon was recognized at NYLPI’s virtual awards ceremony on February 11 alongside Eric Grossman, chief legal officer at Morgan Stanley. The event, moderated by former US Attorney General Loretta Lynch, included a discussion with Ms. McKeon and Mr. Grossman on pursuing racial justice, equity, and inclusion in corporate America. Proceeds of the event go toward NYLPI’s efforts to provide legal assistance to underserved New York residents, including in immigrant communities and communities of color.
