Partners Collie James and Wendy West Feinstein and associate Adam Teitcher were named Litigators of the Week by The Am Law Litigation Daily for their representation of Teva Pharmaceuticals in a public nuisance case brought by three California counties and the City of Oakland against four prescription opioid manufacturers.
The Morgan Lewis team developed an “aggressive defense strategy that emphasized that Teva’s products provide medically appropriate pain relief to Californians every day, and challenged plaintiffs to identify a single medically inappropriate prescription of our clients’ products that would justify the sweeping relief sought,” Collie noted in the publication’s profile.
Collie also addressed the challenges presented by preparing for and participating in the first virtual national opioids litigation trial and highlighted the team’s efficient approach to leveraging benefits such as the ability to practice opening and closing statements and witness presentations using the remote format and settings that would be used at trial. “In the end, the greatest benefit of this experience was proving that we can successfully try a case of any size, under any circumstances, using any format,” Collie said.
