She/Her/Hers

Dorianne Salmon focuses her practice on intellectual property disputes, particularly patent litigation before federal district courts and the US International Trade Commission (ITC). Her experience spans a wide array of complex technologies, including semiconductors, medical device imaging, video compression, gaming technology, artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML), and telecommunications.

Dorianne leverages a strong technical background in biomedical and electrical engineering in her analytical approach to various stages of litigation, from pre-litigation diligence and initial pleadings through trial and post-trial. Her experience includes formulating claim construction, infringement, and validity positions; conducting fact and expert discovery; drafting briefs and motion materials; preparing fact and expert witnesses; taking and defending depositions; and serving as second chair for examinations at trial. She also counsels clients on IP issues such as indemnity and licensing and prepares legal opinions on patent validity and infringement to support strategic decision making and mitigate litigation risk.

Prior to her legal career, Dorianne worked as a senior sustaining engineer at Johnson & Johnson (J&J), where she optimized manufacturing operations for select implantable electronic medical devices in the US and Mexico. Before J&J, she worked as a product development and quality engineer at Allergan (now AbbVie) supporting new product verification and validation as well as qualifications of new equipment and tooling.

Dorianne routinely devotes a portion of her time to community service. Her pro bono practice includes 42 U.S.C. § 1983 civil rights litigation against police brutality, military discharge upgrades for veterans, and immigration law representing asylum seekers and those unlawfully detained by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). She successfully represented a young detainee in his habeas corpus petition before the US District Court for the Western District of Washington where, in May 2026, the court ordered her client’s immediate release from custody.

While in law school, Dorianne worked as a student attorney in the Intellectual Property (IP) and Entrepreneurship Law Clinic and, upon graduation, earned a J.D. certificate in IP Law. She served as vice president of the UConn IP Law Society and as a student member of the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA) IP Section’s Legislative Policy and Review Committee.
