Paul Mesquitta has experience acting on a wide range of complex and high-value commercial disputes both in the English courts and in arbitration. Paul’s recent experience includes acting for investment funds in relation to a first of its kind multi-million dollar claim under s.90A of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 and a complex multi-day arbitration (under the rules of the LCIA) for a US defence manufacturer.

In addition, Paul provides insurance and reinsurance policy coverage advice to policyholders. Before joining Morgan Lewis, Paul trained at a major international law firm in London before qualifying into its professional and financial disputes department.

Advises a large European bank in an LCIA arbitration against a number of borrowers and guarantors for breach of a long-term facility agreement
Represents investment funds in connection with pursuing and defending claims in the UK, Middle East and key offshore centres arising out of the collapse of Abraaj which prior to its collapse was the largest private equity business in the Middle East
Advises a large US defence manufacturer in an LCIA arbitration against a counter-party for breach of contract
Advises various London market Reinsurers in connection with a coverage dispute arising from a CAR policy, where the relevant construction was taking place in Kuwait
Advises a Kazakh oil services company in connection with a coverage dispute with its London market insurer arising from its D&O policy
