Susan Stradley
Susan Stradley represents clients across industries in a diverse array of complex matters, including intellectual property, patent, and trade secret litigation, business, contract, and commercial disputes, and employment-related disputes. Her litigation experience spans all stages of a case’s lifecycle, including pre-suit investigation, discovery, dispositive motion practice, claim construction, trial preparation, trial, and appeals. Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Susan served as a law clerk to Judges Robert W. Schroeder III and John D. Love of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
Susan has experience representing clients in state and federal courts, arbitration proceedings, and before the US International Trade Commission. Drawing on her clerkship experience, Susan drafts and argues motions and briefs on case-dispositive issues and assists with crafting strategies for motion practice, oral argument, and trial on high-stakes issues. While in law school, Susan was a member of the Texas Environmental Law Journal and Texas Journal of Oil, Gas, and Energy Law and participated in the National Environmental Law and Thad T. Hutcheson Moot Court competitions.
- Represented a major consumer electronics manufacturer in a patent infringement jury trial in the Eastern District of Texas, obtaining a complete victory with jury verdicts finding both non-infringement and invalidity of all asserted patent claims
- Defended a prominent aerospace technology company as part of the trial team that obtained a complete defense verdict on the plaintiffs’ personal injury claims in Cameron County, Texas
- Represented an oilfield services company in a series of patent infringement lawsuits in the Western District of Texas and District of Wyoming; cases settled favorably before trial after several major victories during claim construction and dispositive motion practice
- Defended an oilfield services company in a bet-the-company case in the Southern District of Texas involving allegations of trade secret misappropriation; following completion of expedited discovery, the case settled favorably at the preliminary injunction hearing
- Represented a leading supplier and manufacturer of machinery products in a patent infringement dispute in the Southern District of Iowa; case settled favorably before trial with the defendant agreeing to pay the client’s full requested damages
- Defended a major provider of payroll and HR management software in a business dispute seeking injunctive relief originally filed in Harris County, Texas; plaintiffs voluntarily dismissed their claims after removal to the Southern District of Texas and after less than one year of litigation
- Represented a global medical technology company in a complex multiparty dispute involving negligence and personal injury claims in the Western District of Louisiana; case settled favorably at mediation prior to trial
