Edward (Ted) Cook
Ted Cook advises clients on complex commercial litigation, international arbitration, and internal investigations across a range of industries including financial services, aviation, sports, and life sciences. He has experience in matters before the English courts (the High Court’s Chancery and Commercial Courts), in arbitration disputes under the rules of the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the DIFC-LCIA Arbitration Centre, and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
In addition to contentious work, Ted maintains an advisory practice counseling clients on regulatory compliance, including regulatory enforcement and issues relating to international trade, in particular work regarding international sanctions and export controls in the energy and technology sectors.
Ted’s pro bono work involves regularly working with a notable legal nonprofit based in London that helps secure equal access to justice for those facing the death penalty in the United States.
Ted’s recent experience includes advising institutional shareholders in UK-listed companies in complex securities litigation. He is involved with a number of market-leading claims under Section 90A of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, including cases in which the English courts have considered novel questions of law relating to that provision.
- Represented a UAE defense manufacturer and its subsidiary in a high-value DIFC-LCIA arbitration in connection with a breach-of-contract dispute
- Represented a Luxembourg commodities trader in an LCIA arbitration bringing a £16 million claim in relation to funding and offtake arrangements for a tin mining company as well as a related challenge before the High Court under Section 68 of the Arbitration Act 1996
- Represented a Türkiye cargo airline in an ICC arbitration in connection with a dispute with current and former shareholders
- Represented an international motorsports team in connection with a breach of contract dispute with a former driver (which was recognized by The Lawyer as one of its top 20 cases of 2025)
- Represented a leading online retailer in a High Court claim in connection with a trademark infringement dispute
- Represented two groups of institutional investors in separate £100 million High Court claims against large UK outsourcing companies under Section 90A of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000
- Represented a group of institutional investors in a high-value High Court claim against a large UK gambling company under Sections 90 and 90A of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000
- Represented an agricultural company in a Grain and Feed Trade Association arbitration against a counterparty for breach of contract, including the enforcement of the award and defending challenges to an existing freezing injunction in the High Court
- Represented an FTSE 100 company in connection with an internal investigation into possible Bribery Act offenses following whistleblowing concerns into the company’s operations in Pakistan
- Represented an international pharmaceutical company in its defense against a Statement of Objections by the UK Competition and Markets Authority regarding an alleged market-sharing arrangement in relation to an antibiotic
- Represented a UK pharmaceutical company in its defense against a Statement of Objections by the UK Competition and Markets Authority regarding an alleged market exclusion arrangement in respect of an anti-nausea drug
- Represented a number of manufacturing companies across a range of industries in connection with advice on UK export control regulation
