18 septembre 2026Partners Stacie Hartman, Alice Hrdy, and Carolyn Welshhans spoke with Global Relay Intelligence & Practice about the evolving US financial regulatory landscape and how businesses can prepare for potential changes involving digital assets, banking, consumer financial regulation, and securities and derivatives markets.
Stacie emphasized the unusually close coordination between the US Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission on digital assets. “We’ve never seen that level of collaboration before,” she said.
Alice noted that financial institutions have an opportunity to reassess their compliance programs as federal priorities shift, while remaining mindful of active state regulators. “They are pressure-testing it,” she said. “And certainly in the area of the Bank Secrecy Act and money laundering, that has not at all let up, so that is an area where the firms are continuing to dedicate substantial resources.”
Carolyn discussed the challenges that regulatory shifts and political transitions create for long-term planning. “Compliance and legal teams would like to see some consistency and some predictability soon,” she said.
