A Framework for Governing Employees’ Existing Use of Generative AI, Reuters
07 octobre 2026Partner Tara Lawler, of counsel Matthew Hamilton, and associate Leonard Impagliazzo co-authored a Reuters article about how companies can manage employees’ existing use of generative AI tools and address the associated legal, cybersecurity, privacy, and compliance risks.
The authors explain that widespread use of unapproved AI tools presents risks that blanket prohibitions may only drive further underground. They recommend that companies assess how employees are using AI, classify use cases by risk, provide accessible approved tools, and establish clear restrictions on sensitive data. Businesses should also review AI vendor contracts, implement role-specific training, and require meaningful human oversight of consequential decisions to balance productivity benefits with effective governance.
