Morgan Lewis partner Christine Lombardo was quoted in an Ignites article after the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) adopted rule amendments designed to modernize the regulatory framework for both advertising and solicitation practices. According to the article, the SEC has made the decision to scrap a proposed requirement that advisors review ads for compliance purposes before using them.
Christine explains that this is because other regulations already require similar review of advertisements. “I think it would have been overly burdensome and frankly, unnecessary,” Christine said.
