U.S. Bank Implements Well-Being Guidelines for Outside Counsel Relationships, Legal Dive

Partner Michael Kraut is quoted in a Legal Dive article regarding US Bank’s implementation of guidelines designed to promote well-being in its outside counsel relationships through a pilot program the bank launched in tandem with seven law firms, including Morgan Lewis.

Speaking about US Bank’s guidelines Michael said, “For years, I would always tell clients, ‘I’m going to be on vacation next week. I’m not going to be in the office, so call my cell phone if you need to reach me.’”

“And now the client has given me permission to direct them to my lieutenants as a primary point of contact without guilt or worry.”

The guidelines specific to communications for lawyers emphasize being considerate of others when working during off hours, and recommend clear communication about taking time off to avoid unnecessary interruptions. “As someone who’s always trying to deliver excellent service, it’s helpful to know how they value it so we can hit the mark,” he said of the bank’s clearer expectations.
